Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—used the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan knows the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Viewers can expect learning which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
